WILL SKY FORCE BE THE FIRST HIT OF 2025?
The first biggie of the year, Sky Force, will be released tomorrow, that is, January 24. The excitement is there but is not tremendous. It stars Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur and marks the debut of actor Veer Pahariya. It’s also the first film of directors Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Anil Kapur and is backed by Maddock Films and Jio Studios.
Sky Force is set in 1965 and is about India’s first deadly aerial strike. The trailer has some memorable moments. Moreover, it releases on Republic Day and that’s apt for this film, which is in the patriotic zone. Since it’s a Maddock film, they have gone all out to promote it.
However, the buzz is limited. Many feel that the film is similar to Fighter. The songs haven’t worked and these two factors have affected the advance sales. Thankfully, the inside reports are encouraging.
Sky Force will hopefully have an opening of Rs. 10 crores, that too due to tempting offers. If the word of mouth is positive, it’ll jump on Saturday and hopefully, have a bigger jump on Sunday which is Republic Day.
The other major release of the week is Ramayana: The Legend Of Prince Rama. It has been widely consumed on television and digital and has a huge fan base. Excel Entertainment is presenting and releasing it. There was a lot of buzz for it when it was supposed to be released in October 2024. But the film got pushed and now the buzz has died down. The opening will be below par and hopefully, it’ll grow on Saturday and Sunday.
Though Ramayana: The Legend Of Prince Rama wasn’t released before in cinemas, it is seen as a re-release. But while other re-released films were available in cinemas for a maximum price of Rs. 150, the same doesn’t apply to this animation film. This might prove detrimental.
