Zara Hatke Zara Bachke starts on a fine note. The plot is promising and the first half has some very funny scenes that keep the interest going. Sadly, the second half goes for a toss. The conflicts seem forced. Also, the film never really goes on a high. With such a subject and such madcap characters, the makers should have taken the madness to many notches higher. But they fail to do so. Speaking of performances, Vicky Kaushal is sincere as always. Sara Ali Khan, too, puts up a great act. Inaamulhaq is too good while Sharib Hashmi wins hearts with his lovely performance. Neeraj Sood (Purshottam Mama) and Kanupriya Shankar Pandit (Deepa Mami) play their parts well. Himanshu Kohli (Advocate Manoj Bhagel) is the film’s surprise package. Rakesh Bedi (Harcharan Chawla) and Sushmita Mukherjee (Roshni Chawla) fail to induce laughs. Atul Tiwari (Judge Anil Kumar Paliwal) has a small role but is very funny. Akash Khurana (Kapil’s father), Anubbhaa Fatehpuria (Kapil’s mother), Srishti Ganguli Rindani (Mehjabeen) and Vivan Shah (Sajjan; kid) are decent. The song ‘Phir Aur Kya Chahiye’ is catchy. All in all, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke disappoints due to the writing and a weak second half.
