Yaariyan 2 on paper must have sounded pretty exciting. It had the potential to be the next Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, at least in terms of concept. Sadly, the film is slow and boring. The 150-minute-long film could have been shorter by 20-30 minutes. For a film that is about friendship, there’s no humour. A crucial character disappears for a major part of the second half. Even the soundtrack is poor. The track of the parents is touching. Director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru have filmed a few shots creatively and that’s about it. Speaking of performances, Divya Khosla Kumar manages to put up a decent act. Meezaan Jafri does better than what he did in Hungama 2. But he has a long way to go. Pearl V Puri is just okay. Yash Das Gupta is the best performer of the lot. Warina Hussain could have done better in some difficult scenes. Bhagyashri Borse (Raajlaxmi) looks stunning and leaves a mark. Anaswara Rajan (Ikroor) is over the top in emotional scenes. Priya Prakash Warrier is shockingly wasted. Murli Sharma is dependable while Lillete Dubey hams. All in all, Yaariyan 2 is disappointing.
