U-Turn, which has released today on Zee5, is a remake of the 2016 Kannada film of the same name and is about a journalist who gets into trouble while chasing a story. The film’s first half is promising. The plot is interesting and a bit novel and it keeps the interest going. The film drops in the second half but then picks up again. The climax is unpredictable but it defies logic. It is also different from the one in the original film. Hence, those who have seen the Kannada version will be in for a surprise but at the same time, the illogical developments won’t impress them. Speaking of performances, Alaya F is quite good and is getting better with each film. Priyanshu Painyuli is dependable as always. Ashim Gulati (Aditya Iyer) is okay. Manurishi Chadha, Rajesh Sharma, Shreedhar Dubey (Surinder Kumar Yadav; cop) and Priyanka Arya (Divya; Radhika’s colleague) lend able support. Ashu Sharma (Siddhant Sachdeva; lawyer) leaves a mark. All in all, U-Turn is an average fare.
My rating – ** ½ out of 5!
