The makers of Thank God released two trailers and both ended up showing too many scenes of the first half. Hence, there is hardly any surprise element in the first hour. Secondly, the film has limited humour. A film of this sort should have made many more LOL moments, especially since it’s coming from Indra Kumar. On the plus side, the concept is interesting and explained in a very simple manner. The film has some touching scenes which keep the interest going. The twist in the tale in the final act is unexpected and makes for a great watch. Also, the chemistry shared by Sidharth Malhotra and Ajay Devgn is entertaining. Sidharth Malhotra gives a restrained but effective performance. Ajay Devgn, in a supporting role, is damn good. Rakul Preet Singh is decent and her screen time is lesser than that of Ajay. Seema Pahwa, Kanlwajit Singh and Urmila Kanetkar (Sidharth’s sister) leave a mark. Kiku Sharda, Sumit Gulati and Vikram Kochhar are funny. Nora Fatehi is quite sizzling; her song ‘Manike’ is well shot and choreographed. All in all, Thank God is a decent family watch this Diwali.
