Shehzada is a light-hearted film that boasts of not just comedy and romance but also action and emotional moments. The film starts on an intriguing note and Kartik Aaryan’s entry is heroic as well as hilarious. The intermission point is solid and post-interval, a few scenes stand out. However, Shehzada, which is a remake of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, doesn’t have the same kind of overload of entertainment as the original version. Director Rohit Dhawan has smartly made some changes and that’s praiseworthy. But at the same time, he has also omitted a few scenes that made Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo such a loved and classic film. Speaking of performances, Kartik Aaryan gives a powerful performance and suits the character perfectly. He has made his mark in emotional, romantic and funny scenes but this time, watch out for him while doing action. Kriti Sanon looks stunning and puts her best foot forward. Sadly, she’s hardly there in the second half. Paresh Rawal is dependable while Sachin Khedekar is adorable. Ronit Roy and Manisha Koirala provide able support. Ankur Rathee is a surprise and his role is better than the one in the original. Rajpal Yadav is too funny and should have had more screen time. Vinay Rana and Sunny Hinduja are strictly okay as the villains. Kunal Vijaykar, Ashwin Mushran and Ali Asgar are nothing special. As for the songs, the title song, ‘Mere Sawaal Ka’ and ‘Chedkhaniyan’ are well-tuned and well-shot. All in all, Shehzada is a decent family entertainer. (P.S.: DO NOT MISS THE BEGINNING)
