Raksha Bandhan makes an important comment but in a very entertaining manner. The first half is decent but it’s too loud. To see Chandni Chowk residents always trolling and abusing each other gets too much after a point. The film has quite a few loose ends and something should have been done about it. Thankfully, the second half is very moving and this is where the film manages to impress. What’s also impressive is Akshay Kumar’s performance. He’s in a terrific performance, especially when compared to his last film, Samrat Prithviraj. And he shines in the emotional scenes, thus proving why he’s one of the best actors today. Bhumi Pednekar is fine, though her character could have been written better. Neeraj Sood, Seema Pahwa and Sahil Mehta lend able support. As for the sisters, Sadia Khateeb leaves the maximum impact followed by Smrithi Srikanth, Sahejmeen Kaur and Deepika Khanna. Music is not memorable but ‘Tere Saath Hoon Main’ is an exception as it’s very touching. All in all, Raksha Bandhan, despite minuses, is a well-made, clean, family entertainer.
