Oppenheimer, as expected, makes for a superb cinematic experience. Christopher Nolan chooses an interesting subject as not many are aware of the life of J Robert Oppenheimer and what he went through during and after World War II. A lot is happening in the film every second as multiple tracks run parallel. How the protagonist does his job is superbly executed and watch out for the build-up. The last 30 minutes also make for a riveting watch. However, as expected, the film is too complicated. One wishes that things were a bit simpler. A few tracks are not concluded or handled in a just manner. Lastly, the film is too long at 180 minutes and seems stretched. Cillian Murphy, however, delivers an Oscar-worthy performance. Matt Damon, too, rocks the show while Robert Downey Jr steals the show. Emily Blunt (Kitty) is lovely while Florence Pugh (Jean Tatlock) leaves a mark. One wishes the latter had more screen time. Rami Malek (David Hall) is damn good in a cameo. Jason Clarke (Roger Robb) stands out. The others who are memorable are Tom Conti (Albert Einstein), Kenneth Branagh (Niels Bohr), Benny Safdie (Edward Teller) and Josh Hartnett (Ernest Lawrence). Special mention should also go to Ludwig Göransson‘s music, Richard King‘s sound design and Hoyte van Hoytema‘s cinematography. All in all, Oppenheimer is worth the hype. Try watching the film in IMAX if possible for the best experience.
