(Crisp) Movie Review: NEVER LET GO by FENIL SETA

Never Let Go stars Halle Berry and is the story of a family staying in the woods while they are being haunted by an evil spirit. The concept is novel and a few scenes are very gripping. It is directed by Alexandre Aja of The Hills Have Eyes fame and he perfectly sets the eerie mood. However, the narrative is confusing and should have been simplified. Some viewers might be forced to google ‘Never Let Go explained’ articles. There’s a fascinating subplot of sorts and if the whole film was based on it, the impact would have been manifold. The absence of subtitles also causes a problem in some scenes. Halle Berry however is terrific, to say the least. Anthony B Jenkins (Sammul) and Percy Daggs IV (Nolan) also deliver equally fine performances. All in all, Never Let Go could have been a classic film if the minuses were taken care of.
