(Crisp) Movie Review: NAVRA MAZA NAVSACHA 2 by FENIL SETA

Navra Maza Navsacha 2 is the sequel to the Marathi blockbuster, Navra Maza Navsacha. The story is set 20 years after the events of the first part and comprises factors that made the first part a cult film. The film starts on a great note and the conflict is neatly laid out. The reason for the characters to undertake the journey also adds to the entertainment. The divine touch is the soul of the film and will be loved. On the flipside, the humour quotient in the second half could have been better, especially when compared to the madness of the first half. There’s also a flaw as some characters are repeated from the first half but some are not though the actors are the same from the prequel. The effects and transition background score are obsolete and have a daily soap effect. Surprisingly, the four main actors of the film – Sachin Pilgaonkar, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Swwapnil Joshi and Hemal Ingle – dominate the first half but get overpowered a bit in the second half by the other characters. Nevertheless, they do a great job. Ashok Saraf is lovely in a supporting role. It was amazing to see audiences clapping during his entry scene. Vaibhav Mangle raises laughs. Siddharth Jadhav is loud but is apt for the role. Nirmiti Sawant is adorable. Vijay Patkar, Ali Asgar, Johny Lever and Sonu Nigam are great in cameos. Sachin and Shriya’s daughter Shriya Pilgaonkar‘s special appearance is lovely. All in all, Navra Maza Navsacha 2 is not as legendary as the first part but makes for a nice watch. Do book tickets in advance as there’s an insane demand for the film.
