Manmarziyaan’s first half is very captivating. The characters are very well fleshed out, the situations are dramatic and they get uplifted by the music score. However, the film drops in the second half and it gets too long. The title of the film is apt; yet, a few situations seem a bit unconvincing. This takes away the impact to a great extent. The film thankfully ends on a justified note. Talking of performances, Taapsee Pannu takes the cake – she is ELECTRIFYING! She is given many memorable performances but this is surely her best performance! Vicky Kaushal has had a great year and he continues his winning streak with this flick. He gets totally into the skin of his character and gives a very impressive performance. Abhishek Bachchan plays the role of a soft-spoken guy but he leaves a tremendous mark. His character is like a breath of fresh air in the midst of these over dramatic characters and he does full justice to it. What a comeback! From the supporting cast, Saurabh Sachdeva and Ashnoor Kaur are the best. Amit Trivedi’s music is very unconventional and foot tapping. Daryaa is the most memorable of the lot followed by Grey Waale Shade. Watch out for the twin sisters (Poonam Shah and Priyanka Shah) dancing in the background while the characters go about with their lives! All in all, it’s a fine attempt, despite the loose ends!
