Madly is an anthology of six short films and each of these films are made by acclaimed directors from all over the world. These six stories are Clean Shaven (by Anurag Kashyap), Afterbirth (by Mia Wasikowska), Dance Dance Dance (by Sebastián Silva), Love Of Love (by Sion Sono), Love Of My Life (by Gael García Bernal) and I Do (by Natasha Khan). The film’s mood is set by Anurag’s Clean Shaven – it’s shocking and goes into an unexplored territory. Radhika Apte is rocking as always and even Adarsh Gourav and Satyadeep Misra do a fine job. Afterbirth is quite unconventional but is very nicely directed and performed (by Kathryn Beck). Dance Dance Dance leaves a huge mark and ends on a great note. Love Of Love is the craziest story of all. It totally justifies the title of the film – it’s crazy on another level! The last 2 stories – Love Of My Life and I Do – sadly are very disappointing. Anurag Kashyap graced the Q & A session after the screening and shared great trivia about his film. Audiences were stunned to know that Clean Shaven is inspired from a true incident. In fact, that incident is more shocking than what he showed on screen. He also added chances of Madly releasing in India are next to impossible due to its shocking content. Here’s hoping it’s available on online platforms at a later stage – it surely deserves a watch!
My rating – *** ½ out of 5!
