(Crisp) Movie Review: LAGHUSHANKA by FENIL SETA

Laghushanka is 14 minute short film on Sony LIV about a girl grappling with bed wetting. Her wedding is round the corner and the family fears that the groom’s family might call off the wedding if they find out about her condition. The plot is very simple and the treatment is light-heated and funny despite based on a serious issue. The film ends on a slightly predictable but a very heartwarming note. It is written and directed by Nikhil Mehrotra who yet again proves his brilliance. This young talented person deserves to be celebrated as he has written some of the finest films of recent times like Dangal, Chhichhore, Panga and Gunjan Saxena. Laghushanka is his first short film and I can’t wait to see him helming a full-fledged feature film next! Talking of performance, Shweta Tripathi Sharma once again wins hearts. There couldn’t have been a better person than her for this role. Yogendra Vikram Singh too puts his best foot forward and loved his act in the last 2 minutes especially. The others like Kanupriya Pandit, Narottam Baid, Garima Vikrant, Ravi Chauhan etc give nice performances. Charu Shree Roy‘s editing, Archit Patel‘s cinematography and Mannan Shaah‘s music are also spot-on. All in all, Laghushanka will make your day. Don’t miss!

My rating – **** out of 5!
