Khel Khel Mein is the story of seven friends who play a dangerous game while sitting in a hotel suite. The protagonists are well-defined and it sets the stage for the madness that unfolds once they begin playing the game. A few scenes are too funny and it’s the humour that makes this film worthwhile along with the performances. The film, however, gets serious in the second half. While focusing on the seven protagonists, the director doesn’t give prominence to the supporting cast. This affects the narrative. Also, the backstory of one of the protagonists is not properly established and seems superficial. Akshay Kumar, however, is outstanding and it’s a pleasure to see him in a comedy after a long time. Vaani Kapoor puts up a confident act. Taapsee Pannu doesn’t have much to do initially but she shines in the second half. Fardeen Khan underplays beautifully and he also does better after the intermission. Pragya Jaiswal leaves a mark in her debut role. Aditya Seal and Ammy Virk lend able support. Chitrangda Singh looks stunning and is too good in a cameo. The supporting cast is okay. As for the only, only ‘Hauli Hauli’ works. All in all, Khel Khel Mein is a fun, timepass entertainer.
