(Crisp) Movie Review: HISAAB BABARBAR by FENIL SETA

Hisaab Barabar, which has released today on Zee5, is about an honest TTE who exposes a banking scam. The plot is promising and the director tries his best to keep things simplified. But soon, the film goes haywire and conflicts are added without any rhyme or reason. The finale is supposed to be funny but doesn’t raise laughs. Moreover, the film looks like a TV show; even the way the title is mentioned looks substandard. R Madhavan is the best performer of the film and with his looks, personality and dialogue delivery, he pulls off the role convincingly. Neil Nitin Mukesh puts his best foot forward but the performance leaves a lot to be desired. Kirti Kulhari is fine but is let down by the writing. The same applies to Rashami Desai. Ishtiyak Khan (Credit card seller) is funny. Faisal Rashid (Bank clerk) and Rajesh Jais (Bank manager) leave a mark. Manu Rishi Chadha (Dayal) is just okay. All in all, Hisaab Barbar is not worth watching.

  1. You remind me of those old Trade Guide, Film Information trade magazines that used to be published from Naaz Cinema bldg, They used to write reviews like these. Madan Puri is OK. Sadhana passes muster without much to do. Pran has been wasted. Man Mohan Krishna is fine. Songs are so, so. Director has lost his way after the second traffic signal where his car broke down. In all a non starter. We expect it to do about a lakh of rupees business.

Not that we miss them today. Check Bollywood Hungama and Taran Adarsh drawers. You will find them by kilos.
