Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire follows a simple narrative and the makers add a lot of big-scale and funny scenes to keep the interest going. However, up to a point, the film is complicated. A couple of tracks run parallel and viewers might wonder what’s going on and when they’ll get to see what they’ve signed up for. Thankfully, the second half goes to another level as things get simpler. The last 20-25 minutes are whistle and clap-worthy. Rebecca Hall (Dr Ilene Andrews) gives a fine performance while Brian Tyree Henry (Bernie) is very entertaining. The dashing Dan Stevens (Trapper) lends able support. But it’s Kaylee Hottle (Jia) who steals the show. And even better than her is Kong; watch out for his expressions and body language; it’s a masterstroke of work by the VFX team. All in all, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, like its predecessor, is a paisa-vasool entertainer.
