(Crisp) Movie Review: GAME CHANGER (Hindi) by FENIL SETA

Game Changer has released with limited expectations as director Shankar‘s last outing Hindustani 2 was a major disappointment. Many were all set to write him off. However, one should never underestimate these older directors as they can surprise anytime. Anil Sharma did that with Gadar 2 and now Shankar follows suit. The film spans different eras and yet, it seems seamless thanks to Shankar’s execution. It is peppered with lots of clapworthy moments; the interval point, in fact, is unexpected where the film goes to another level. The comic relief track of Side Satyam (Sunil) also works. However, the second half is not as great, though it has its moments. The songs act as speed breaker and also, the important flashback portion leaves certain questions unanswered. Ram Charan, as expected, is heroic and watch out for him in the emotional scenes. Kiara Advani looks stunning and does well like everytime. But sadly, her screen time is limited. S J Suryah plays to the gallery perfectly. Anjali (Parvathy) is fine but is let down by the writing. Sunil is very funny but Vennela Kishore (stalker) is not. Jayaram (Ramachandra Reddy), Srikanth (Satyamoorthi) and Samuthirakani (Sabhapati) lend able support. All in all, Game Changer is a well-made wholesome entertainer.
