(Crisp) Movie Review: BAD NEWZ by FENIL SETA

Bad Newz rests on a hilarious premise and that’s where the makers win half the battle. The tone of the film is light and the various funny moments keep the interest going. The reference to Bollywood films and songs is hilarious in some scenes. The finale is touching. Sadly, a few jokes don’t land well. In the second half, one gets irritated by the antics of the two male protagonists. Viewers might get put off by them and that should never happen with the heroes. The performance of Ammy Virk and Triptii Dimri are also not the best and they could have done better. But both shine in the emotional scenes. Vicky Kaushal, on the other hand, is on another level with his comic timing. He looks like a dream in the song ‘Tauba Tauba’. Thankfully, it is played on the full screen and the end credits roll only after the song ends. Hence, his hotness can be enjoyed in all its glory without any distraction! Sheeba Chadha, Faisal Rashid (Dr Baweja), Neha Dhupia and others are fine. The detective character is interesting but not utilized properly. All in all, Bad Newz is a nice timepass entertainer.
