A Quiet Place: Day One is a prequel of sorts of A Quiet Place. However, the characters and setting are different, with only one character returning that too from the second part. A few scenes are nail-biting and the director makes good use of the city infrastructure like skyscrapers, subway etc to add to the madness. However, the film offers nothing new to those who have seen the earlier two parts. One pre-climax scene is touching but it doesn’t suit a movie of this kind and also, the narrative goes off track at this point. Lupita Nyong’o proves yet again that she’s one of the finest actors in Hollywood. Joseph Quinn (Eric), Alex Wolff (Reuben) and Djimon Hounsou (Henri) are fine. All in all, A Quiet Place: Day One is an unwanted addition to this otherwise excellent franchise.
